The "not so secret" weapon to natural age management!
Can you guess what it is? It’s Microneedling and today is National Microneedling day!
It’s true! There is an entire day dedicated to this fantastic age management treatment! It’s one of my favorite treatments and a specialty here at Ensō Skincare in Chandler Arizona and I’m so excited to talk with you about it!
So what IS microneedling? Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves controlled pricking of the skin with tiny sterilized needles using a pen like device. These small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, rebuilding the skin and making it plumper, tighter, and smoother and more youthful!
Microneedling treats a variety of skin conditions like wrinkles and deep facial lines, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, stretch marks and even addresses hair loss.
The benefits of microneedling are numerous! Most notably, skin tightening and firming, improved texture and brighter skin tone. Collagen takes time to form so final results will appear 4-6 months post treatment.
The most common questions I get about microneedling are:
Does it hurt?! Pain levels range from person to person from completely painless to tolerable. Here at Ensō a topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to ensure your maximum comfort level. In most cases my clients do not experience any pain or it is described as a mild tingling sensation.
What’s the down time? Microneedling is considering a minimally invasive treatment with recovery time ranging from 24-72 hours depending on the individual. You can expect your skin to appear between pink to red and feel like a mild sunburn. You may also experience itching, dryness and flaking as new skin is regenerated. Makeup should be avoided for the first 48 hours.
